Clean up a messy CSV or Excel file

Open the file and Tidytable lists what’s untidy, with real examples from your rows: duplicates, extra spaces, “N/A” and “null”, numbers stored as text, dates written several ways, and the same value spelled differently. Fix each one in a click, or all of them at once.

How to do it

  1. Drop your CSV or Excel file on the box above, or choose it.
  2. The Clean up panel opens with what it found. Each suggestion shows a few before → after examples from your own data.
  3. Press the button on each one you want (Remove, Trim, Match…), or Fix all. Every fix can be undone.
  4. Press Download to save the tidy file, in the same format you opened.

Questions

What does it look for?

Duplicate and empty rows, empty fields, extra spaces and hidden characters, placeholders like “N/A” or “-”, numbers and dates stored as text, numbers, dates and phone numbers written several ways, ZIP codes that lost their leading zero, typos in email domains like “gmial.com”, the same value spelled several ways, and names in ALL CAPS.

Will it change anything without asking?

No. It only suggests. Nothing changes until you press a suggestion’s button, and you can undo any fix.

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. Tidytable reads the file in your browser tab, on your own computer. There’s no server that sees your rows, no account, and nothing to delete afterwards.

Is it free?

Yes, with no sign-up and no limit on how many files you open.
