Combine several CSV files into one

Have January, February and March as separate exports? Open them together and Tidytable offers to stack them into one table. Columns are matched by name, even if they’re in a different order, and a Source column records which file each row came from.

How to do it

  1. Select all the files at once and drop them on the box above.
  2. Tidytable notices they have the same columns and offers to stack them. Press Stack.
  3. Check the preview: which columns match, and how many rows you’ll get.
  4. Press Download to save the combined file.

Questions

Do the columns have to be in the same order?

No. They’re matched by name, ignoring capital letters and spacing. Columns only one file has are kept too.

Can I add next month’s file later?

Yes. Use “Add rows from a file…” on the table’s tab menu. It can also update rows that are already there instead of adding them again.

Does it work with Excel files?

Yes. Each sheet of an .xlsx file opens as its own table, and sheets with the same columns can be stacked the same way.

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. Tidytable reads the file in your browser tab, on your own computer. There’s no server that sees your rows, no account, and nothing to delete afterwards.
