Make a pivot table from a CSV

Sales by region, sign-ups by month, orders by product and channel: open the file, switch to Pivot, pick what goes in the rows and columns and what to add up. Click any number to see the rows that make it up.

How to do it

  1. Drop your CSV or Excel file on the box above.
  2. In the bar above the table, switch the layout picker (it says Grid) to Pivot.
  3. Pick a field for Rows, optionally one for Columns, and what to count or add up.
  4. Download the pivot as a CSV, or click a number to see its rows.

Questions

Can it group dates by month or year?

Yes. Date fields are grouped by day, month or year, depending on how long a time they cover.

Can I filter before pivoting?

Yes. Filters on the view apply to the pivot, so you can pivot only last year’s orders, for example.

Is there a quicker overview?

The Summary layout gives key totals, a breakdown and a timeline of the whole table at once.

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. Tidytable reads the file in your browser tab, on your own computer. There’s no server that sees your rows, no account, and nothing to delete afterwards.
