Find and replace in a CSV file

Rename a product everywhere, fix a typo in every row, or swap “USA” for “United States” in one column. Tidytable shows every match before it changes anything, and the whole replace is one step to undo.

How to do it

  1. Drop your file on the box above.
  2. Open Find and replace from the More menu (or press ⇧⌘H, Ctrl+Shift+H on Windows).
  3. Type what to find and what to put instead. Pick one field or all of them.
  4. Check the preview of every match, press Replace, then Download.

Questions

Can I match whole values only?

Yes: tick “Only whole cells”. “Match capitals” decides whether capital letters matter.

Does it only change what’s showing?

It works on the rows in the current view, so filter first to replace in just some rows.

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. Tidytable reads the file in your browser tab, on your own computer. There’s no server that sees your rows, no account, and nothing to delete afterwards.

Is it free?

Yes, with no sign-up and no limit on how many files you open.
